Homestays

Host family accommodations remain the backbone of a fully immersed study abroad experience. Living with a host family affords students direct access to their host community in an authentic, supportive, and enriching environment.

THE DEMI-PENSION (TRADITIONAL HOMESTAY) INCLUDES:

  • Continental breakfast (bread, butter, jam, cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice)
  • Dinner six days per week, lunch is not provided
  • One load of laundry per week (per student)
  • A complete room cleaning every week

Students should refer to the Housing and Student Services Agreement Form (sent to, and signed by, you before your departure) for more information about living with a homestay.

PLEASE NOTE: Homestay schedules are aligned with the IAU academic calendar.  Students should be aware that they will need to vacate their homestay during the December/January holiday period and at the conclusion of the Spring term in May.  If a student is enrolled in a summer session, they will need to vacate the homestay at the conclusion of that session in mid-July.

The Housing Agreement between the ACM-IAU French Host and Student can be found here:

Students should refer to the Housing and Student Services Agreement Form (sent to, and signed by, you before your departure) for more information about living in an SRA.

Our students live in Les Jardins Mozart, which is located at 540 avenue Max Juvenal, in the center of Aix.

  • One street away from Les Allées Provençal (FNAC, underground parking, many stores)
  • 350 m (a four-minute walk) from La Rotonde
  • 400 m (a five-minute walk) from the Gare Routière
  • One km (a 12-minute walk) from our main ACM-IAU buildings
  • 2.9 km (a 35-minute walk) from the Marchutz School of Art.

Students will live in two-bedroom or three-bedroom apartments, with a separate bedroom for each student.

WiFi and all utilities are included.

Meals: Students must buy all content of meals (food, seasoning, oil, etc.) The apartment kitchen is furnished with pots/pans/dishes/cutlery, etc.

Laundry: Bed linens and towels are provided. There is a washer and dryer on the first floor of the residence. The total cost for washing and drying a batch of clothes is about eight Euros.

Cleaning: The apartment will have a broom, mop, and bucket provided. In addition, there are two vacuum cleaners available for temporary use, in the laundry room on the first floor. Students are responsible for buying cleaning products and keeping their apartments clean. This is an essential aspect of the residence living contract; and it means regular cleaning of the bathroom (shower and toilet, especially, because the water here is hard and will stain the porcelain if left sitting for too long) and kitchenette (including pots, pans, cutlery, etc.)
